This can be helpful if you want to exchange information between Portmoni and other platforms, to prepare your products import CSV file, and to manage a large number of entries using Excel or another tool.

How to export product options from your online store

Here are the steps to export the product options from your online store. By following these steps, your export file will be created automatically, and you will be able to download and save it to your device.

Steps:

  1. From your Portmoni site editor at https://builder.portmoni.com, go to the “Account” tab
  2. In the “Account” tab, go to the “Import / export your data” section
  3. Click on “Import / export data from your site”
  4. In the “Products” section, click on “Export product options”
  5. You are prompted to select a location to save the exported file on your device. Once done your export file is created and saved to the selected location.

Description of the product options CSV file

The first line of your CSV file is the column headers that describe the content of each column. Each column is separated by a comma. The following lines (or records) in the file contain data of your site using the same columns in that exact same order.

Here is the description of the different columns:

1 Option Handle

The handle of the option. For instance the handle for a product option defining the size of an item could be “size”.

Handles are unique names for each product option. They can only contain lowercase letters, dashes and numbers, but no spaces, accents or other characters, including periods.

Should be a string, max 50 characters.

This field is required.
2 Option Name

The name of the product option. For instance, the label of a product specifying the size of an item could be “Size”.

Should be a string, max 30 characters.

This field can be empty.
3 Option Value

The value for the option. For instance, a value for the size product option could be “XL”.

Should be a string, max 30 characters.

This field is required.

A product option with multiple choices of values is defined by several rows following each other, and using the same product option handle. The first line defines the product option, the product option name, and the first choice. The following lines define the other choices. The option name is only specified on the first line.

Here is the example of a product option with two choices:

size,Size,L
size,,XL

This defines the product option with the handle “size” and the label “Size”, with the two choices “L” and “XL”.

You can download and view a sample product options CSV file to use a template. Alternatively, you can also export a product options CSV file from your online store and use it as a template.

If you use the sample file, then be aware that it contains examples of product options. If you use the sample file to create your own import file, then make sure that you remove all the examples from the file.
